Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, Doctor Robison earned his undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree in microbiology. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Following a year of service at the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic in Pennsylvania, Dr. Robison received specialty training in orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Along with certification in orthodontics, Dr. Robison earned a Master of Science degree for his research pertaining to the facial growth and development of patients with cleft lip and palate.
Practice Philosophy
Dr. Robison believes that no-charge initial consultations should be provided as a service to the patient. If a parent is concerned about their child's teeth, Dr. Robison thinks they should be able to come in and have their questions answered without having to worry about cost. In fact, it is not unusual for Dr. Robison to take an X-ray of a young patient at no charge so that he can monitor the child's facial growth and better plan future treatment.
Dr. Robison feels strongly that the psychosocial impact of crooked teeth or poor facial balance can have a profound impact on the self esteem and overall psychological well being of a person. For this reason, Dr. Robison is willing to work with patients by offering financing alternatives so treatment can begin when growth is optimal and while treatment is easier.
The ultimate goal of treatment not only includes straight teeth, but properly aligned jaws and good facial balance as well. In the vast majority of cases this goal is best achieved with a full complement of teeth through the 12 year molars. For this reason Dr. Robison will only order extraction of permanent teeth in the most severe cases or as a last resort.
